Technological Innovation In The Perspective Of SSK

Technological innovation is the impetus to enhance economy and the research on the theories of technological innovation is helpful for the accomplishment of technological innovation practice. After double decades' work, the research on the technological innovation theories has gain great successful result. But recently there have appeared some problems that indicate the halt in the research of technological innovation theories. The purpose of this paper is to find out the reason that produced those problems and to advance some effective countermeasures that will be beneficial for the advancement of technological innovation theories.In addition to the introduction, this paper is divided into four main parts. In the first part, a brief investigation of the history of technological innovation has been given and the problem has been found. This paper points out that not only has the research under the economic paradigm but that in the fields of philosophy of science & technology got some limits by which the understandings of the essence of technological innovation were lacked. Hence a new perspective is needed.In the second part, the theories of SSK and SST have been introduced and two important characters of the social constructionism have been generalized, the relativist epistemology and empiricist methodology. This paper advises that the social constructionist claim is useful for the research of technological innovation that is full of complexity.A case study of technological innovation has been done in the third part and by this analysis a kind of new theoretical framework concerning technological innovation has been constructed. This paper proposed SSTI theory, which is the initialism of the Social Shaping of Technological Innovation, and the basic creeds, core concepts and main contents of SSTI have also been briefly introduced.In the last part, this paper has done some brief study on several philosophical questions existed in the SSTI theory and considered that the resolve of these questions would do greatlyinfluence on further study of the SSTI theory.The SSTI theory is a new social study theory concerning technological innovation and contains abundance philosophical significance. Although this theory is in its babyhood, a new perspective of technological innovation has been introduced and this is just the aim of this paper.
