Since 1990's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been widely used all over the world. Integrated with logistics, fund flows and information flows to manage, it overall balances and takes into great consideration of all items of resources to the fund, equipment and human resources enterprises possess in order to obtain the maximum economic profit making use of the current resources to the largest extent.As one sort of manufacturing industry, the management of Pharmacy industry, compared with that of other industries, requires more preciseness, fineness and special regulations because of involving humans' health, survival and life. During dozens of years' development, the software providers of medicinal business administration not only gradually learned from the management thought abroad, but also further investigated the features of national medicinal enterprises and accumulated fruitful experience. Their products in part of the units have matured day by day. Known as an important component of ERP, the supplies management is critical in utilizing the ERP efficiently. Although medicinal enterprises have in common with general manufacturing industry, they display different specialty. While the existing medicinal business administration software has certain advantages in production management, it is not ideal enough in supplies management due to historic reasons.Firstly introducing the development procedure and basic principle of ERP, this paper expatiates the relationship between supplies management system and other systems and accounts for the necessary theories and concepts involved in system design. Then based on the common features of supplies management of manufacturing industry, the paper mainly analyzes special demands of national medicinal enterprises, and illuminates the basic principle, design and development procedure in supplies management unit, which belongs to modern Enterprise Resource Planning Management System grounded on ERP concept. Its functions include actual business demand, dataflow relation and data structure design.
