Study On The Organization Setting And Actualization Ways Of The Federal Agency For Civic Education(bpb)

The Federal Agency for Civic Education, founded in 1952, is an institution, which decides, organizes, actualizes and manages the civic education in Germany. It aims to "enhance and spread the democracy and Europe thought in German people". The work done by it centers on "motivating and enabling people to give critical thought to political and social issues and play an active part in political life, promoting awareness for democracy and participation in politics". Since created to set up, the institution has been tightly around important social topic, successfully promoted politics stability, nation unification and social economy development through civic education. It plays an important role in consciousness and social development in post-war Germany.The institution is a subordinate public organization of the Department of Domestic Affairs of German government. Its chairman and two vice-chairmen were nominated by the Federal Minister and appointed by the Federal President and their work is responsible for the Minister. At the same time, one management committee constituted by 22 councilman supervises the politic standpoint and work effect. The institution accepts the guidance from one scientific advisory committee whose members were nominated by the Minister. They are 10-12 professors and experts in the fields of politics, economy, literature, philosophy, news, history, law and society etc.The chairman leads the institution. Its organs include the administration department, specialty department and six work groups (culture education, young man, right-wing extremism, migration and Europe, new economy).The institution has 16 embranchments (the State Agency for Civic Education) in states, which take charge of the work in their own state. The management mode and organization setting of the embranchments differentiate each other. The relationship between the federal and state agency for civic education is cooperation.
