With the high speed development of automotive industry in our country, how to improve the competitive ability of auto enterprise, meet the requirement of market and individual satisfaction, information technology becomes an effective tool to raise the management level in automotive industry. This paper summarized the industrial country such as America and Japan, which use information technology to improve their traditional automotive industry achieve the success, their developed procedure and accumulated experience. Meanwhile it also discussed the developing state, existing problems and future strategies for the application of information technology in China automotive industry. The writer worked at FAW and programmed some typical MIS subjects especially in mass procurement procedure and foundry parts manufacture procedure. Here gives a brief introduction.The purpose in information management of automotive industry is combining research, manufacture, management, automation with information technology, through its effective application to drive the innovation on automotive research and design concept, manufacture method, management mode and procedure, supply chain on multi benefit. By this way we can realize the integrated information management on automotive research, design, manufacture, enterprise management, automatic control and also improve the competitive ability of automotive on the market. Now we have entered information society, information as is one of a key factor of production, which has already broken the structure of typical western economics for three key factors and become the fourth factor. They are labor force, capital, land and information. According to this theory of modern western economics, the success means by using these factors combination properly and make the maximization of stockholder's treasure. So, the management on automotive industry isn't the management on human being, financial and material only, it was developed to the sourcing management on human being, financial, material and information. The result of using these resources will affect the performance of automotive industry directly. Now the enterprises and their managers who still existed and developed in the market competition are thinking that how to make decision fast and effectively, how to increase the customer resources, how to raise the production efficiency and products competition, how to reduce costs and wastes, how to get the information and feedback from market fast, and how to get the managing mode and technology which can answer and solve these problems? Obviously, we all think the application of ERP – typical mode of contemporary information management. Since the 90' of 20th century, the information technology representative with computer technology put a deep practice in the marketing, managing, designing and manufacturing, which made the developed country jumped from automation in production to enterprise information management, it played a very important affect on its products competitive ability. Now at the automotive plants of developed country, the level of their information management has reached a high degree. Investigating and analyzing the state and character of advanced information management enterprise, we can get a short way and rapid development to apply the automotive information management in our country.The construction of information management is a complicated system, it need every partner to join. In the beginning of the procedure on enterprise information management, it need the guidance of government policy and multi investment. To carry out this procedure we should conclude the experience on time and adjust the strategy according to the situation. America and Japan have opened their telecom market since 1980's and introduced competition, through this way they stepped up their solid construction on information management.The application of information technology on production, marketing and management every circle is the enterprise behaviors of facing market competition...
