The rapid development of information technology such as computer network and communication has prompted economic globalization and formation of the world market, which makes corporations in information age to face more complex and variable environment. Only if they change their organization structure, production, marketing and management etc., can corporations succeed in competition. The revolution of strategic concept and practice is in the first place. The traditional strategic frames of industrial times have not adapted the competition of new economic times any more.The value chain has offered the basic method and structure frame for understanding enterprise's behavior and guiding and competing for taking action. Porter, in order to analyse value created in different links and cost taken up in enterprise's business activities, divided enterprise business activities into basic activities and assistant activities, designed it value chain analysis the frame. The the value chain is used to support for generally strategic analysis, at the same time it is the effective tool of management of the information system too, the value chain can help information system developing personal identification strategic chance that information technology brings to enterprise. With the appearance of e-commerce, the rise of B2B e-commerce system, commercial value is set up on the infrastructures of the data, information and knowledge more and more, the virtual value chain has become the tool that e-commerce brings the change to business management of analyzing, application of value chain model the information system expand to the virtual value chain, the research on the value chain has been turned from physical value chain to the virtual value chain too. In virtual value chain, the value of production depends on not only the creation of physical value chain but also information too. Realizing the impact on value chain of the information technology and revising physical value chain in order to give full play to the abilities of information technology impel e-commerce further success. This text has mainly carried on research on the virtual value chain because of B2B e-commerce system. This text is divided into five chapters altogether:Chapter one regarded as introduction of the article, describe the research background of the thesis and meaning of the selected title mainly, the structure and research direction and achievement of the thesis of the article.Chapter two introduced basic theories mainly, has described the intension of the value chain, value chain includes the inside value chain analysis and value chain analysis of the industry. Having put forward the general model of the virtual value chain on the basis of theory of the value chain, is used to instruct enterprise carry on inside competition advantage analyse and the shaping of core ability at information age. The virtual value chain is a tool that enterprise explores the source of enterprise competition advantage by utilizing information technology and internet and recognizing and reorganizing and arranging enterprise every value activity. Similar to value chain of the tradition, the virtual value chain is made up of various kinds of value activities seperately belonging to basic activity and additional activity too. The basic value activity includes: Supply management, virtual producing, online stock control, network marketing and online service; Additional value activity includes information technology platform, intelligence capital, the third party's logistics, technological development, purchasing. Different from value chain of the tradition, each value activity on the virtual value chain can be separated, form the source of enterprise's value. It is unmateriality, flexibility, uniqueness and permanent characteristic that the virtual value chains.
