The Medium and Small-sized Enterprises is the one of most important part in the national economy, and has the important strength that impulse economic development. Along with the reformation & opening, while the medium-and small-sized enterprises have made great progress, the Medium and small-sized enterprises facing a lot of problems, including the outdated model in performance management and the lower level of the management. These problems have affected the further development. It has become an important question for discussion how to overcome shortcoming, making use of advanced theories of performance management to establish scientific and reasonable performance management system so that improve the enterprises' performance and strengthen the enterprises' core competitive ability.KPI (key performance indicator) is a kind of tool that the strategic target can be disassembled to perspective goal that can be operated. It holds the KSF of the enterprises and avoids the problem that the enterprises don't focus on the key factors because the indicator system involves the every party. The dissertation puts forward to apply KPI to the Medium and Small-sized enterprises' performance management combines with the characteristics of the Medium and Small-sized Enterprises, and studies thoroughly concrete application in KPI. At first the dissertation interprets the concept of the Medium and Small-sized Enterprises and expatiates its important role in the national economy. Besides it, the thesis also interprets the foundation theory of performance management. Then,based on the analysis of the problem, which lied in the performance of China's Medium and Small-sized Enterprises ,and the environment , which support performance's operation in the China's Medium and Small-sized Enterprises, the dissertation provides the design which used the KPI as the core in the Medium and Small-sized Enterprises, which according to the characteristic of the Medium and Small-sized Enterprises. The thesis expatiates the process of performance and setting up the performance system used KPI as the core. In the end, the thesis analyzes the application of performance system in the DESAI Company, which used KPI as the core.
