This paper studies on the project of bulk cargo berth in Longkou port, Shandong province, designs and proposes this project's investment scheme for State Development & Investment Communication Co.(SDIC Communication Co.). The feasibility of this project is discussed in such aspects as the geographical position, throughput, earning ability and the risk. At the end of this paper, some important conclusions on the development of the port industry in these days are presented, which provide the theoretic reference for the development of the port industry in SDIC communication Co. SDIC Communication Co. is wholly-owned subsidiary of State Development & Investment Co.(SDIC) which is specialized in the development, operation and management of roads (including bridges, yards and stations), ports and related supporting projects. Moreover, it participates in the management of the investment projects by means of holding a dominant or subdominant percentage of their shares. It pushes ahead the institution of modern corporate system, carries out its endowed duties and contributes more to the national economy and raises earning ability of state-owned capital. SDIC Communication Co. owns 184 port projects whose total assetarrives at 41.13 billion Yuan. It focuses on 35 projects that havemarket prospects and good return, and exceed ten million Yuan in ownerequity. It is actively exploring effective channels to launchventure-capital investments through asset integration 61吉林大学硕士毕业论文and consolidation of resources in Shandong province, Hainan provinceand the area of the Changjiang river. Based on the careful analyses, this paper makes followingconclusions: 1,There are precious resources of deep water and vantage point inLongkou port. 2, The transportation of the bulk cargo has reached the sizable scale and grows quickly. 3,The railway and highroad will be available. 4,there is a good potential of development. On the basis of the reasons described above, this paper concludes that Longkou port specializes in the transportation of the bulk cargo and export, the average throughput of the bulk cargo rises by 17.25% every year. The throughput of the bulk cargo in 2002 has reached 5.1 million tons and the throughput of export has reached 1.93 million tons. The project of the bulk cargo berth in Longkou port separates two universal berths in 5 million tons and one special berth for the transportation of the food supplies in 5 million tons from the original project and recombine these asset to the joint-stock company. The total asset is 3.25 million Yuan, total debt is 1.25 billion Yuan, owner equity is 1.02 billion Yuan, and partner equity is 98 million Yuan. SDIC Communication Co. possesses 51% of shares and Longkou port authority possesses 49% of the shares. This paper estimates that this project will achieve the return 62吉林大学硕士毕业论文 in the first investment year and the return will increases every year in succeeding years. All investments will be taken back in 5 years optimistically and 8 years in worst cases. The return of investments will reach 36.47% optimistically and 18.04% in worst cases. The important results are presented as follows after the carefulstudy: 1,The port industry play more and more important roles in thedevelopment of national economic. 2,The coastline resources become the important factor ofdevelopment of the port industry. 3,The coastline resources of the port in the medium scale are thehotspot of investments. 4,The trade of property right of the port asset becomes more andmore active and the fluidity of that is improved. 5.
