Study On The Industry Port Of Wuhan Iron And Steel Group Company's Logistics Integrated Throughput

A widely held belief has been that logistics is the third source of profit. Now Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Company(WHISGC) is practicing the strategy' of creating famous brand,making exquisite article and expand its scale. In the course of the practice its industrial port has become the gate of importing materials and exporting products. It's very important to adopt the logistics technique and study the technological system and logistics throughput of the industrial port for increasing the integrated throughput,reducing its operating cost and increasing its profit.In this paper the logistics system and throughput of this system are studied and some measures and suggestions are proposed to increase the throughput of the port. Some means of research are adopted,such as investigation,testing at the scene,academic study,survey and calculation and consulting the experts,etc.This research holds the point that logistics of the industrial port has the particularity that logistics of manufacturers,sellers and factories exist meanwhile. Although the distribution mode of the industrial port is traditional,it has the foundation to develop logistics. But now in the port the equipment of logistics system can't form a complete nagement of logistics is not harmonious.aghput of the mineral terminals is 7,000.000 tons and that of the finished -product terminals is 1,600,000 tons. Now the port has loaded to capacity to meet the need of production. Furthermore,there are many problems that the handling technology does not form a set,the capacity of warehouse can not meet the need and the management of the source of goods and producing is not harmonious. All of these must be solved soon.The throughput of the mineral terminals would reach to 8,620,000 tons and that of the finished- product terminals 1,800,000 tons by the means following:Enlarge the 6#,7#,8# and 9# quay,connect the wharfage of 6# quay with that of 7# quay,connect the wharfage of 8# and 9# quay,make the operation in the quay harmonious,improve the management of logistics and make the type of arriving ships more reasonable,etc.. It is true the integrated throughput of the industrial port just meet the need of production passively. Now it cannot adapt to the strategy of developing of the company. So means of expanding its scale must be found.
