The Study Of Development Of The West Urban Agglomeration Cluster

Cities are the center of regional economy development, while one of the most arduous strategic tasks of the whole Development of West China is to speed up the urbanization course for our country in the 21st century. Presently the speed of urbanization is slower than economy in the west region. There are many problems which limit the harmonious development between regional urbanization and regional economy. For example, the quantity of cities is insufficient badly. The cities' rank scale structure is very unscientific and the distribution of supercity, large area, medium city and small town is reasonless too. The polarization of cities rank is obvious, In a word, the west is lack of a sound cities system.In the west, it is impossible that we develop the urbanization course uniformly, because the condition of physical geography, social history and economy development is behindhand. The writer puts forward that in order to promote the urbanization development of the west, it is necessary that we develop west regional economy by unbalanced means by the rules of regional economy and cities development. That is, we should give preferential development to several regions which have dense population, superiorities in physical geography, social history and base of cities development and whose economy developed well comparatively. Such as the district of Cheng-Yu, Dian-Zhong, Guan-Zhong plain, the district of the north slope of Tian Mountain, Lanzhou-Xining, central section of Inner Mongolia, south district of Guangxi and central section of Guizhou. We should develop those districts preferentially through Urban Agglomeration development stratagem. Doing this is of great benefit to develop the less developed region and underdeveloped region in the west and reduce the development gap between East and West.This article studies the domestic and international theories of urban agglomeration and sets forth that correlative meanings of the clusering urban agglomerational development. Through studying the necessities and possibilities of the urban agglomerational development in the west, the article divides the development course of urban agglomeration into three phases, that is, primary stage of development, intermediate stage of development and advanced stage of development. Then the writer ranges the above eight urban agglomerations according to the three phases, and sets forth development strategies according to different phases. The article gives the demonstration studies to the Cheng-Yu urban agglomeration cluster and discusses the status quo and problems of the four urbanagglomerations of the Cheng-Yu. In the end, the paper analyses the advantages and problems of the Cheng-Yu urban agglomeration cluster and comes up with the development strategy of networking development of cities for the Cheng-Yu urban agglomeration cluster.
