During the 1970s and 1980s, the Islamic world experienced a wave of Islamic revivalism. Malaysia is one of the Islamic countries that experienced a high level of Islamic revivalism. ABIM represented the largest Islamic revivalism groups of Malaysia rapidly raised up, elevating Islamic identity awareness among the Malay people. In the political area, Party Islam SeMalaysia that targeted the establishment of an Islamic state rapidly grew up in the 1990s and got many Malayan's support. In order to deal with the wave of Islamic revivalism and the challenge of Party Islam SeMalaysia, the government of Malaysia began to emphasize the Islam more and more. The Islamic revivalism is divided into two phases. The first phase was the mass Islamic revivalism in the 1970s; the second phase of Islamic revivalism was leaded by Malaysia government. In the first place, the paper reviews the process of Islamic revivalism. Secondly, the author analyzes the reasons and the characters of the Islamic revivalism of Malaysia. Finally, the author forecasts the prospect of Malay Islamic revivalism.
