In the past ten years, along with our automobile industry booming in a longest periodever before, Nanjing automobile industry developed at full speed too. As one of theNanjing pillar industry, its proportion of taking the whole city GDP is higher than theaverage level of the nation. However, we should soberly realize that the high developingspeed of our Automobile industry totally result from the release of gathered demand inenormous domestic automobile market. In terms of industrial organization and the positionon the global value chain, the automobile industry of Nanjing has two serious problems:Firstly, the regional industry's overall arrangement is in disorder, and the division of laborand coordination of work between vehicles and components manufacturers areunreasonable. The market share and industrial concentration of regional vehiclesmanufacturers are comparatively small, and therefore it is hard to actualize the scaleeconomy. Secondly, the industrial organization mode of the Nanjing automobile has notkept up with the transition of the global industrial organization mode of automobileindustry yet. Also whole industry researches and develops and marketing ability is weak,which cause the regional automobile industry to have danger of falling into the low addedvalue trap on the global value chain of industry. Nanjing automobile industry has littleindependent intellectual property right brand. There are deviations in the past practice ofjoint-venture, introduce technology and domestically producing. Without its own regionalautomobile industry development strategy, and under the global strategy of the automobilemultinational corporation, Nanjing automobile industry is inevitable to become theirdependency, finally losing its independent organization, and being unable to set up theregional automobile industry with independent intellectual property right. Above-mentioned problems have weakened the competitiveness of the automobileindustry of Nanjing seriously. Combining with characteristic of industry environmenttransformation, this paper attempts to analyze these problems in terms of industrialorganization and global industry's value chain, makes the development strategy of Nanjingautomobile industry through industry strategic management, and establishes the icompetitiveness of the regional automobile industry. According to above-mentioned problems, chapter one assures the content andmeaning of the regional competitiveness study of Nanjing automobile industry. Totheoretically support the latter analysis of Nanjing automobile industrial organization andthe study of regional industry competitiveness, chapter two discusses industrialorganization theory, regional industry cluster theory, global industry value chain theory andmethod, industry competitiveness theory and industry strategic management theory. Chapter Three, four and separately analyze the international and national automobileindustry in terms of industrial organization, it can be regarded as the analysis done todescribe the competitive background and environment of the Nanjing regional industry. Chapter five analyzes Nanjing automobile industry competitiveness throughautomobile products subjective evaluation sheet and SWOT method. Talking about thepossibility of forming a regional automobile industry cluster. According to preceding chapters analysis, Chapter six bring forward two developmentstrategy of Nanjing automobile industry based on the regional cluster and the globe valuechain. Also discuss the forming basis of the development strategy of regional automobileindustry in detail.
