| The optoelectronic industry is an important component of the high-tech industries. It is one of the focuses in the tomorrow's high-tech industries' competition. The 'Wuhan·China Optoelectronic Valley' is one of the earliest optoelectronic industry base admitted by our country. The essay chooses the competency of Wuhan optoelectronic industry as the researching object so as to probe into and sum up the status of it.There five parts in the essay. Part I is the introduction, which describes the background and meaning of the research and introduces researching status. Part II introduces the relevant theory about industry competency and redefines the concept of industry competency. Part III introduces the foundation of the evaluating indexes of optoelectronic industry and the evaluating methods. Part IV analyzes the competency status of Wuhan optoelectronic industry. Part V proposes some measures to improve the competency of Wuhan optoelectronic industry. The measures include reinforcing the cultivation of core enterprises, the excution of manpower strategies, perfecting the optoelectronic industry chain and improving the original innovating and marketing abilities. There are two innovation points in this essay: first one is the new conclusion for the connotation of industry competency. In former researches, the connotation of industry competency is always described from the surface of industry. The essay discusses about this and redifines the connotation of industry competency. The rationality of this definition shall be testified in further research. The second one is that the essay put forward an analyzing model on the development of the competency of optoelectronics industry. Although the model is still under investigation, it is a fresh attempt and it is a investigation of the industry competency from a new angle and a higher starting point.
