The Prospect For The Development Of Organic Agriculture In Yichun City And Its Industrialization Development

This thesis research aims to analyze the problems about the development of organic agriculture industrialization in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, China, based on the current status for agricultural development, natural resources and related key factors in this area. The analyses have been carried out on the grand background of China's joining the WTO and its agricultural development into absolutely new stage by considering biology and ecology as the theoretic bases and with the purposes of realizing the perfect integration of eco-environment, economy and society, and attainment of the sustainable development.It has been pointed out that there will be brilliant prospect for the development of organic agriculture after comprehensive analyses of the current status and marketing potential for the organic agriculture development in China and all over the world. After the studies on the new status and problems the Yichun City has encountered in the development of its organic agriculture, the author has pointed out that development of organic agriculture in Yichun is the requirements for the implementation of the scientific development point of view, for the increase in the farmers' income through adjustment of the structure of agriculture production, for the expansion of shares of agricultural products in international markets, and for the ensuring of food safety and health. After researches on the eco-environments and agricultural resources in Yichuan, it has been pointed out that Yichun has been equipped with the environmental conditions for the development of its organic agriculture possessing relatively good basis for its development. For example, 16 agricultural products in Yichun have passed the certification of organic farming. All these have indicated that its industrialization development of organic agriculture has been initiated, relatively comprehensive systems of quality monitoring and testing have been established, and it is fully feasible for Yichun to develop the industry of organic agriculture.The author analyzed the actual case of the development of organic agriculture conducted in Wanzai County, Yichun City. In this county there are 12,000 mu of farmland, 50,000 mu of bamboo land which has passed the transformation of organic soils, and 35,000 mu of farmland which has passed the transformation. Fourteen agriculturalproducts have got certification from various international food organizations, such as ECOCER from the European Union, NOP from USA, JAP from Japan, and so on. The organic agricultural products exported in 2003 totalized more than 5 million US dollars, and the yearly total produce of organic agriculture has reached more than 83 million RMB. Upon the analysis of the efficiency of organic agriculture and the characteristics in the development of organic agriculture industrialization in this county, such as major guidance of the county government, carders' demonstration, active response of farmers, following up of enterprises, technical support, management modulation, and flexible systems, etc, the author has pointed out the difficulties and problems existed in the course of organic agriculture development in Wanzai County.The author has made a proposal on the key points and work-out of the organic agriculture development in Yichun City. Six suggestions have also been made on the development of organic agriculture in Yichun, including (1) deployment of the governmental guidance, (2) establishment of multiple investment, (3) building up of technical support systems, (4) setting up of throughout quality monitoring systems, (5) strengthening support of giant and powerful enterprises, and (6) encouragement of simultaneous development of "three products".The results made in this study have shown that there will be a brilliant prospect for organic agriculture in terms of marketing and development, the development of organic agriculture in Yichun is the necessary choice in strategic adjustment of the structure of agriculture production, in the meantime, there have been good conditions, foundation and ca...
