As a new developing science of management, the construction project management, which is a systematic management method developed to plan, organize and control construction project, has gained more and more focus from the project managers. Metro project is typical in it's multiobject, complexity, huge investment and emergent schedule. Modern science of project management seems to be the only way to coordinate the schedule, capital, quality and resource management of Metro project. In other words, the main difference between a successful project and a failed project is the project management. The topic of this thesis is to study the pattern of Shenzhen Metro's construction project management. In the text, chapter 1 elaborates the general situation of Shenzhen Metro's Phase 1 Project and the metro company, as well as the position of this metro company in mainland's metro industry. It also reveals the major problems exist during the process of Shenzhen Metro Phase 1 Project. In chapter 2, it analyses the main causes for the current unsatisfactory progress of Shenzhen Metro Phase 1 Project, as well as the major factors restraining the project management from getting effects. Chapter 3 bases it's studies on the peer metro companies, including Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong Metro Company. It points out the valuable patterns in project management by analyze the difference between those companies. Chapter 4 proposes a optimized organization frame of project management that suits the features of metro works, basing the point of view on the essential understanding that project management is to meet the project targets through human activities. Finally, in chapter 5, it addresses that metro company should pay much attention to several aspects like investment control, progress control, etc. in terms of construction project control. It further puts forward the measures to improve the control method and procedures for the metro company's project management so as to finally form a complete, effective and practical project management pattern for the metro company.The text bases it's studies on the factual case of Shenzhen Metro project, combines with the theory of modern project management, and gives some proposals about the organization, progress and investment. It develops a effective pattern of project management, which could be used directly in the practice of Shenzhen Metro's project management. At the same time, this thesis provides a good study case for the research of project management theory and metro construction industry, it provides the reference for other metro companies in china who are willing to adopt project management in an all-round way and systematically.
