The Study Of The MIS Building Of The UNIAN Corporation

UNIAN corporation is a private company that deals in steel trade (UNIAN is its English name that appears in its trade mark). In the recent years, UNIAN has made great development by grasping opportunities and is more and more famous in the steel trade industry. In the course of fast development, UNIAN has many problems to overcome in its operation, such as high labor intensity, low satisfaction degree, more mistakes in business operation etc, restricting the further development. The top management have been aware of the importance of IS building and have made some preparations and had recruited some IT technicians. But they are not very clear what IS means and what IS can do generally. In the middle of 2002, UNIAN started its IS building. Without clear long-term plan, its main aim was to enhance the business operation efficiency. The IS building of UNIAN went through such stages as system analysis and program writing, preparation for the system running, sectional running and full-scale running. Through continuous exploiting and improving, UNIAN built a digital platform based on Internet, which can realize the business information sharing on time in the whole group. The top management pay high attention to the IS building and pour much recourses into it and take such measures as regulations building, employee training, work decomposing, rewarding and punishment etc, to push the implementation. The general effectiveness satisfied the wish by improving the operation efficiency and it was accepted by the employees of all level and improved the information awareness of the whole company. But because they couldn't deeply realize the role of IS, their project management ability was not good enough, they are lack of experience, and its despotic environment, the depth and the efficiency was not good enough. Through analyzing the experience and the result of the IS building of UNIAN, the writer got some conclusions and gave some proposals and hope the enterprises ot the same scale in steel trade industry can get some lesson from it.
