Under the background of economic globalization, supply chain competition has been deeply influencing enterprises' operations and management. With the development of Internet and E-commerce, enterprises become more and more eager to realize inter-EAI(inter-Enterprise Application Integration) and interoperation among systems. But how to realize the costly application integration and solve problems raising from the differences of languages, platforms, protocols and data, basing on Internet which is a fast-changing, isomerous and loose environment? This is a big problem facing IT industry. Taking this condition as background, aiming at understanding and promoting Web Services-based EAI, and basing on Honeywell EAI project, this dissertation studies Web Services-based EAI theoretically and practically under the background of Internet:Firstly, we discuss the demands of EAI under the background of Internet and competition environment changes, and defectiveness of traditional technologies (Distributed Object Technology represented by CORBA, DCOM and RMI). Then we study the framework, technologies and protocol stack of Web Services, and we come to a conclusion that Web Services is open and with qualities of encapsulation and loose coupling, and naturally fit for Internet-based EAI. Basing on above analysis, we propose frameworks for Web Services-based communications among components, intra-EAI and inter-EAI, and analyze the effectiveness and advantages of Web Services. Basing on theoretical analysis and framework designing, we take Honeywell EAI as an example to illustrate how to realize EAI basing on Web Services: we design Web Services-based integration framework and architecture, and make detail analysis about two parts: designing B2B Web Services interfaces and Web Services-based integration of sales terminal. Finally, we develop two Web Services programs in common use to further study Web Services' practical application, and to illustrate Web Services-based programming: establishing database-accessing Web Services and transforming COM component to Web Services using SOAP Toolkit. We wish this dissertation would provide valuable viewpoints and suggestions, and be beneficial to domestic studies and applications of Web Services.
