Research On Competitiveness Of Textile Industry Of Hubei Province

China is the world's largest nation in production and trade of fabric goods, and the textile industry is one of the few industries which have both comparative advantage and competitive advantage. The textile industry is one of the pillar industries of Hubei province, and it plays a pretty important role in the provincial economy. Hence, the goal that the textile industry of Hubei province grows rapidly and healthily is important for both the provincial economic growth and the development of China's textile industry.Competitiveness analysis is one of the major analytical methods in economic theory. This method is featured by its strong comprehensiveness and broad applicability. The history of study on industrial competitiveness is not much long, but the theory of industrial competitiveness develops so rapidly that it is now one of the significant branches among the industrial economics. A thorough study on the competitiveness of the textile industry of Hubei province under a scientific analytical frame can help the industry develop by providing some useful means and ways.The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method is a significant tool of plural statistical analysis theory. It provides a scientific solution to distribute weight among indexes in quantitative analysis. This thesis adopts the PCA method to carry out competitiveness analysis on the textile industry of 31 provinces in China. The conclusion is that the competitive level of Hubei's textile industry is slightly above the average level of the nation. Hubei's textile industry has competitive advantage in aspects of natural resources, human resource, economic geography, and competitive disadvantage in aspects of market concentration degree, enterprise operation mechanism, and brand of products.The thesis has 6 parts altogether.
