| Social stability and development is based on the normal functioning of major systems. The information system is one of the major systems, and its stability is significant for the community, especially for the steady development of China's rural society which is in transition. In this article, the author takes the seventh election of village C in the province of East China as an entry point to observe various communication phenomena in rural society, and through field surveys to obtain first-hand material, puts forward the concept of "information barrier"by qualitative research. There are three cases recorded in the article, which occurred in the village C's election and governance processes: highlights of the"peripheral phenomenon", unfortunately"traffic jams"and embarrassing"petition specialized households". They respectively represent three dimensions of information dissemination: a bottom-up dissemination of policy information, the expression of popular sentiment and the dissemination of personal views. Combined with the case, the article describes four kinds of performance of information barriers from four aspects include the information content, structure, flow and timing of the information, namely, information distortion, information imbalances, lack of information and the information explosion, information delay and information in advance. In addition, it analyzes the causes of information barriers from both channels and dissemination elements. From the perspective of communication channel, the information dissemination in China's rural society is an interactive process by mass communication, organizational communication and interpersonal communication. However, the spread of agriculture-related lonely mass communication, organizational communication in profit-driven and human-human transmission of the gatekeeper the weakening of public space set up barriers in information dissemination in rural areas. From the perspective of dissemination elements, the main transmission quality and personal self-interest, subject to the practical needs of communication and media literacy, communication in the process of geographic distance and psychological distance have restricted the achievement of the dissemination effects.Last, the article discusses the influence on rural social stability caused by information barriers and proposes several measures of eliminating information barriers from the perspective of Communication. The information barriers may affect the normal social order, constrain the establishment of democratic consciousness, and hinder the decision-making by nationality. In order to eliminate information barriers, firstly we should strengthen the organization and control, emphasis on interpersonal communication; secondly we should grasp the audience's psychology, enhance media literacy; thirdly we should innovate the means of communication, focus on communication skills. As one of the social paradoxes in rural areas, Information dissemination and information barriers should be paid enough attention by people from the government, academia and other parties. We believe, with the development of China's rural economy, the realization of rural informationization and the extensive use of new media, information barriers in the rural society will gradually weaken and eventually disappear under the joint efforts of all parties. |
