The Cultural Linguistic Study Of Names Of Places In Bengbu City

The name of a place, used for the individual district, is an integration of inguistics, geographical, historical fields. It is also the word symbol coming from a specific direction, scope, morphological characteristics of the geographical entities given by local people. The formation of place names has a profound geographical, historical and cultural background. The study of geographical names not only need to focus on the etymology of place names, semantic and evolution, but also focus on the distribution and types of place names, names of the modern functionality, translation and writing of geographical names standardization and standardized geographical names information system and other issues. With the economic and scientific cultural development and the frequent exchanges of the world, the use of geographical names becomes more and more extensive. Not only related with people's daily life and social activities, but also with the country's foreign affairs, defense, civil affairs, trade, transportation, telecommunications, mapping, news, publishing, scientific research, culture, education, tourism and other sectors, the place names have extensive and close contact. Therefore, the study of names becomes the needs of the community.There are 1,600 names in Bengbu city, including street, alley, road, which take up 32 percents. The names with the vast deposits of resource information need further exploration, research and development. With the development of urban economy and culture, the huge system of places composed by the word is constantly renewed. In this paper, I make the comprehensive study and interpretation of Bengbu's place names from a cultural point of view of linguistics, used linguistic theory and method.The text is divided into six parts:The meaning of first names were explained in the Introduction, and then I analyze the names and language, culture and reveal the names of functions, introduce the overview of Bengbu geography and history, and finally explain the purpose of this study, significance and methods, and current research situation.The first chapter discusses about the linguistic features of names of Bengbu. Corpus by a large number of names, I analyze the characteristics of Bengbu syllable names, Oblique and rhythm, and explain the morphological characteristics from the side of the part of speech and the structures of phrases.The second chapter analyzes how the Bengbu names are named. This chapter analyzes characteristics of Bengbu in terms of the geographical terrain, history, stories, names and characters, and the names of the numbers, location, showing infinite varieties of Bengbu place names.The third chapter attempts to explore the place names, reflecting the cultural connotation of Bengbu from the angles of the names, places and historical sites and changes, place names and topography, place names and in-depth analysis of economic and other aspects of cultural content as reflected in names.Chapter four analyzes the characteristics of the evolution of place names in Bengbu, and also points that the current management of some problems exists in Bengbu.Chapter five presents on the thinking of geographical names' standardization, that is the standardization the needs of modern society, and stresses that the planning of Bengbu names several principles.
