| This thesis analyses the synchronic and diachronic features of Weihai place names in a linguistic perspective, as well as the relationship between Weihai place names and regional culture. This thesis first introduces a historical and geographical survey on Weihai, and presents current works in the area of Weihai place names. then the phonetic and lexical features of Weihai place names are described in detail. finally by means of statistics it concludes on a trend to official, variety, elegance and science in the development of place names, and Weihai regional culture reflected by places names of Weihai. |
