Residential Structure, a crucial index of analysis and study of Ethnic relationship, is an important dimension and breakthrough point in the research to Ethnic relationship formed in the national communication. Research into living structure of multi-ethnic community in Xinjiang exerts important realistic significance to understand the present situation of social intercourse,stimulate national solidarity and establish harmonious ethnic relationship.Taking Liberation South Street in Urumqi as the case, the thesis focuses on national Residential structure within their jurisdiction as object of study. Through the reviews of early Residential structure and investigation of current situation, the author employs historical literature, participation observation and in-depth interviews and questionnaires and SPSS statistical analysis method and summarizes the characteristics of currently Residential structure. A wide range of immingle inhabitation with small range of congregate inhabitation coexist, a pattern of vertical congregate in the "national unit (building horizontal direction") and horizontal congregate coexist, and on this basis the author detects that the distribution pattern, general history of religious secularization, urbanization, the floating population and "occasional factors" have become the influence of national living pattern change major factor. Finally, by analyzing the influence of current different Residential structure, the author discovers that historical trace still remains, planning needs to be strengthened, and that minority ethnic floating population congregate. And according to the problems the author puts forward some corresponding solutions in the end of the article.
