The Relationships Among Life Events, Dispositional Optimism And Life Satisfaction Of Military College Students

With the rapid development of the positive psychology, the optimism and life satisfaction has become the focus in the scholars'research. There are two factors affecting the life satisfaction: the external factor and the internal factor. The life event is one of the most important external factors while the personality is one of the most important internal factors. Dispositional optimism is an internal factor. When Individual faces the pressure situations or the stressful events, optimistic personality is an important internal resource which can regulate mental health and physical health. Therefore, this study discusses the relationships among life events, dispositional optimism and life satisfaction of military college students, which is aiming to provide theory basis and practical guidance for the military college mental health education.Taking the military college students of total 976 as objects, the investigation is done by means of the adolescent life event scale, the life satisfaction scale and the revised optimism scale. Then the effective data are analyzed by SPSS. By means of the variance analysis, correlation analysis and multiple linear regressions analysis, the present situation of dispositional optimism and life satisfaction of military college students are analyzed. Moreover, the result of military college students is compared with that of local college students to discuss deeply in dispositional optimism which play a medium role between life events and life satisfaction. The main conclusions are show as follows:1. Stress in study and interpersonal relation are the main life events to military college students. The main effects in the place where students come from are remarkable. The dispositional optimism of military college students is in a bit more middle level, and the main effects in gender and family economic situation are remarkable; The life satisfaction of military college students is in a middle level, and the main effects in grade and family economic situation are remarkable.2. Compared with local students, the level of military college students'dispositional optimism is higher, but the differences are not remarkable. The differences in the dimensions of positive expectancy, transform and negative expectancy are remarkable. The level of life satisfaction is lower than that of local college students, and the differences are remarkable. The differences in the dimensions of friendship satisfaction, family satisfaction, school satisfaction and satisfaction and freedom are remarkable.3. It is remarkable negative correlation between life events and dispositional optimism of military college students. And life events and life satisfaction are in remarkable correlation. Except the dimension of Environment satisfaction, Life events was in remarkable negative correlation with Life Satisfaction; Dispositional optimism is in remarkable positive correlation with whole life satisfaction.4. Life events and dispositional optimism influence life satisfaction directly; and dispositional optimism plays a medium role in the relationship between life events and life satisfaction.
