Concerning The Cultivation Of Citizenship Consciousness Of New Generation Of Migrant Workers

Nowadays, migrant workers have become a special social group and also a special phenomena in modern China. The urban-rural dual structure has resulted in an unfair position to migrant workers, making them marginalized group in the process of city-socialization at the primary days after establishing the state. How to look upon their social position, and the migrant workers future development prospect, is not only related to migrant workers ' interests, but also to the social stability, development and progress in China. The rights of the migrant workers can be guaranteed not only depend on the improvement of social relative institutions, but also on the guarantee of their own interests and the enhancement of their citizen consciousness.With the modernization drive propelling, society and academic circles pay much more attention to new generation of migrant workers and the cultivation of citizenship awareness. The author tried to put the relevant theories of citizen consciousness to examine current situation of citizen consciousness of new generation of migrant workers and Put forward some measures of developing citizen consciousness of migrant workers.This paper firstly defines the concepts of the migrant workers and new generation of migrant workers, analyzes the origin and implication of the citizen, analyzes the composition of citizen consciousness and the influencing factors, the social significance of civic consciousness. It holds that the formation and improvement of the consciousness of citizenship is an important factor to promote the all-round development of new generation of migrant workers.Then this paper argues that since the Reform and Opening Up, the civil consciousness of Cenozoic migrant workers have improved comparing to the older generation, but it still has many deficiencies that, specifically, is confusion of subject consciousness, rights consciousness, and lacking equality awareness, etc. This paper also analyzes the reasons to the problems of the young peasant workers citizen consciousness . Finally, the paper considers that it is a long-term and arduous historical task to cultivate the citizen consciousness to new generation of migrant workers. This article should cultivation of citizenship awareness, from a respective point of view among the government, the society and the new generation of migrant workers .
