Filial piety is of great significance in terms of individual and society. Personally, filial piety is not only a respect for the origins of life, but also the respect of their own value of life. To society, filial piety is the basic elements to facilitate family harmony, social stability and national unity. In ancient agricultural society, the ancients would see"filial piety"as"basis of self-cultivation","art of regulating the family"and"statecraft". In modern society, the reasonable content of filial piety is still of high value. It is not only the way to regulate the interpersonal relationships, to achieve family harmony and maintain the moral foundation of social stability; but also an important part of building a socialist harmonious society and a new socialist countryside, as well as to educate the citizens of the socialist concept of honor.The rural problem is always the major problem concerning our country's economic and social development. Under the horizon of construction of new socialist countryside, advocate and inherit actively the reasonable core of the traditional filial piety, not only conducive to the realization of"rural civilization", purify the social atmosphere and promote rural harmony; but also help to solve the juvenile crime in rural areas, pension and other practical problems; more important is that to create a good social environment for rural economic development and building a socialist harmonious society in order to promote a new socialist countryside construction.Unfortunately, because of historical, family, educational and institutional factors, the problem of moral loss is serious in rural areas, the status of practicing filial piety cannot be optimistic, the phenomenon of lack of filial piety, do not love and support their parents appear a lot, and the circumstances are deteriorating, manifested in indifference, do not support, against the legitimate interests of the elderly and so on. These phenomena seriously undermined the social atmosphere, limiting the development of rural economy and society. In this case, through the critical succession and creative transition of traditional filial piety, building a full range of educational networks and establishing long-term mechanisms to reconstruct the filial piety, to make it play an active role in today's society, is undoubtedly of great practical significance.
