Research On The Identification Of The Independent Business Peasant Labourers In Chinese City

The problem of peasant labourers has been the focus of all levels of the community in contemporary China. In recent years, with the growth of the migrant labourer work, life experiences in city and corresponding social capital, more and more peasant labourers choose to start their independent businesses in the city, and become a unique and new group in Chinese urban society.This paper, which rests on the background of labourers'returning to their home to start their own business, which uses Q City's peasant labourers in Shandong Province as the region studied, which is according to the time-space situation of countryside memory, the urban experience and the expecting of the development, analyses a part of migrant workers who conduct their own businesses in the city, and explores the condition of their own identification. The results show that, exquisite craft is of a prerequisite for their own businesses to the most migrant workers in the city; in the same time, because they have lived for long time, they gradually reduce their local memories, constantly enrich the urban experience and the widespread impact of urban media, make their expectation about a city become higher and higher. They gradually adapt to the cultural values in a city, their habits have being assimilated by the city. Experience of a city life and the city expect are benefit for the peasant labourers of independent business to form a new identification, which is based on capital and social recognition, and is no longer limited in the labourer-identification of the household registration system and social prejudices.Identification is not static, but a progress of continuing to be a construction, deconstruction and reconstruction, in which the independent-business peasant labourers in a city continue to enrich their own urban experience, bathe in modernity and modern urban civilization in a city, and experience the urbanization and re-socialization. In the process of urbanization, their cultural pattern shows a diversified development, performance in the consumer, lifestyle, entertainment, personal preferences, ideas, etc. and form a new cultural character what contains both urban modernity and traditional local habits. Meanwhile, basing on continually strengthening their original relationship of trust, they also actively seek external support and assistance of social resources. With the power of internal and external groups, they are building their own order of life, and have become unique characteristics of the social group which belongs to the large group of the migrant workers.
