With the development of the urbanization and the forward of the new-type towns urbanizations strategic, peasant workers how to merging into cities once again aroused heated discussion. Peasant workers is an important driving force for Chinese cities’ development, but also the core force transmission of modern urban civilization, whether peasant workers can really integrate into the city, not only related to the development of the city, but also related to the social stability and the construction of harmonious society. However, it doesn’t means they are the truly citizens if they do not complete the transition from tradition to modern, or they can not adapt to the highly developed city. In this paper, we focus on the peasant workers’ city merging, taking Beijing as an example, doing some surveys and interviews. The surveys were conducted in four communities in Beijing. In this paper, we analyzed the modernity of peasant workers and described the influence factors of peasant workers’ urban experience, finally, we put forward the promotion system for supporting the peasant workers to learn the modern life.In our study we found that: the development of the modernity of peasant workers is good on the whole. while, the difference in the different components of the modernity is large and their modernity have an uneven level. Urban experience have a significant affect in the peasant workers’ individual modernity, mainly displays in: the older, the lower level of development of individual modernity. The longer they leave their village the better of their individual modernity. The higher of their monthly income, the better of their individual modernity.Base on all of this we can believe that the experience of living in city has contributed to its individual modernity for peasant workers. A simple flow experience will undoubtedly be able to improve their responsibility sense, self-reliance, risk awareness, flexibility and adaptability, but it is difficult to make them develop to modern industrial or urban civilization of the sense of order, planning, time and hierarchy principle. The development of their individual modernity is still restricted by many factors, including the restriction of cultural, economic and so on. The most prominent is household registration system and the following social exclusion of peasant workers. Therefore, this paper from three aspects to discuss the promotion system for supporting the peasant workers to learn the modern life, including institutional system, cultural system andorganization system.
