Freedom is the inherent nature and the elevated pursuit of human beings. In a sense, the history of human society is also the striving history of human beings fighting for and pursuing freedom. In the course of pursuing freedom, human beings have been conquering nature continuously, and reaped a bumper harvest on the road of rebuilding the society at the same time. Freedom is also one of the central issues of philosophy. By the way of adding practice into the ideology of freedom, Marx found the bridge to connect ideal and reality, necessity and freedom, and endued freedom with unique disposition and fire-new connotation. In the thought of Marx, practice is the characteristic mode of existence belonging to human, and freedom is a practical issue actually.By means of discussing the formation, the scientific connotation and the practical significance of Marx's viewpoint of freedom, this paper aims to criticize the erroneous ideas of every description about freedom, and help people comprehend Marx's viewpoint of freedom deeply and completely.This article is divided into four parts:The first part is the development of traditional viewpoints of freedom of the west, summarizing the western ideologist's comprehension of freedom. Ancient Greek thinkers'exposition of freedom is the origin of liberal theory. With the strengthening, expansion and further development of the capitalism, freedom theory has been rapidly developed. The development of the western thought of freedom provided abundant thinking materials for the generation of Marx's ideology of freedom.The second part is the formation process of Marx's view of freedom,expounding the process of Marx's viewpoint of freedom from bud, development to maturation. The period of Doctoral Dissertation and Rhine News is the embryonic stage of Marx's ideology of freedom. The period of Criticism of Hegel's Law Philosophy and Manuscript of Economics and Philosophy in 1844 is the developing stage of Marx's ideology of freedom. The period of Holy Family and German Ideology is the mature stage of Marx's view of freedom. The publication of Das Kapital marked a new level of the development of Marx's view of freedom.In the third part, I illustrated the connotation of the Marx's viewpoint of freedom. This part included the theoretical connotation, ultimate aim and implemental method of the Marx's viewpoint of freedom. Marx's viewpoint of freedom includes rich connotation, and its lofty ideal is the realization of human beings'emancipation and overall development in the process of mankind's liberation, which could be achieved only through practice.The last part is the contemporary value of Marx's view of freedom, researching the theoretical and practical value of Marx's view of freedom. Marx's view of freedom has directive significance in promoting the reform of the democratic system in our country, developing socialism with Chinese characteristics and constructing socialistic harmonious society.
