Accelerating development of technology brings great changes in economy and society, which are both opportunities and challenges to firms. In marketing changes, usually the former leaders of industry decline gradually or even die out, while upstars occur and take the place of them. Theory of corporate life cycle also indicates most mature firms will decrease along the life cycle, unable to innovate in time being one of the most important factors. From above it can be concluded: technology innovation contributes to the long-term survival and development of any firm, and only those firms being able to innovate continuously own vigorous vitality. But unfortunately, mature firms are not good at radical innovation despite that they are good at incremental innovation, which leads to failure in market competition of mature firms. This paper describes obstacles to radical innovation in mature firms in detail as well as the process to failure they cause. At last, on the basis of obstacle description, I brig forward some countermeasures to implement radical innovation in mature firms.
