Informationization driving industrialization, bringing the latter-development-advantage into play and achieving great development of social productivity are China's national development strategy. The basis of informationization is the development of information industry, which has been listed as one of the strategy industry of our country. This paper tries to investigate some aspects like formation, development, character and regulation of information industry from the angle of the economics. And we should also explore its influence on macro- economy growth and the function mechanism inside it.In the first chapter, this paper defines information industry, and overviews some related economics theories, which gives a cushion for the continuation. In order to expatiating the reason of its development, the paper analyzes the mechanism of the returns, externality, economics of difference and economics of grows-up in information industry. Function mechanism analysis part has been addressing the economic motivation for continuous innovating activities in information mdustry. And this part also researches the impact of information industry upon improving productivity in other industries. In substantial evident research part, three kinds of methods have been adopted. The first is calculating the direct contribution through total analysis and construction analysis, the second is setting up theinformation industry synthesize index, revising Cobb-Douglas production function to analyze the total contribution, and the third is international comparison, in order to find a way to the further development of information industry in China.All the diligent is to studying the characteristic and movement regulations of information industry differing form the traditional industry, expecting to provide a certain realistic meaning to economic development facing double pressure and challenge of informationization and industrialization of our country.
