Chen Duxiu And The Localization Of Marxism In China

In this thesis, it is discussed the historical status of Mr. Chen Duxiu and his thoughts, with his contribution especially concerned to localizing Marxism in China.It is of great importance, in the process of revolutions and constructions, to invest Marxism with Chinese characteristics both in theory and in practice. Based on the analysis of his comprehensive understanding of the national conditions and fundamental issues of Chinese revolution, it is argued that, Mr. Chen Duxiu has made greatly initial contribution, with his whole life, to propagating and localizing Marxism-Leninism throughout China and to seeking the way-out for Chinese revolution. Such contributions help a lot to establish his status in Chinese history. Many of Chen's thoughts are unprecedented in the 20th century, which have had profound influence up Chinese history. Such thoughts can be seen as the main achievements resulted from the propagation, innovation and localization of Marxism-Leninism before the failure of the Guomin Revolution, which provide theoretical preparations for the establishment of Mao Zedong's Thoughts. In the final part of dissertation, it is also discussed some of Chen's failure in the course of localization of Marxism-Leninism.
