Study On The Resources Of Agricultural Land Use In Karst Mountains

As contradiction between man and resources intensified, how to coordinate economic development and ecological protection and achieve the harmonious co-existence between man and nature has become a research focus. Land use is the process that human beings combine their subjective need with those physical objects-land, whose essence is the interaction between man and resources. Some kinds of resources are required for the completion of land use. The environment and land use affect each other. But in the relationship between man and environment, man is the dominant part. The environment will be degraded, if human activities are wrongly conducted. As the environment gets worsening, the economic effect of land use will be impaired.The karst region is regarded or defined by people as a kind of extremely fragile or weak environment just like the surrounding areas of the desert. The karst mountain is the most fragile part in the karst system. Because of the fragile environment and improper human activities, the eco-environment of the karst mountains in Southwestern China has been degraded seriously and is one of the largest poverty-stricken areas in China. The study of land use basing on resource environment will be of great benefit to the harmonization between man andenvironment.Taking karst mountain of Chongqing as the example, the thesis analyzed the influence, which produced by natural resources during the process of land use. The thesis defined the niche fitness degree of agricultural land use and established the mathematical model of it, and then use the mathematical model to analyze the resource conditions of some agricultural areas.The thesis consists of five parts:In part one, the background of the thesis and a documentary summary of the focal points are stated simply. Based on this, the clue and method and essential problems are illustrated. Then the significance of the thesis is stated briefly.In part two, the geographical situation, natural and economic condition, and population are introduced briefly.In part three, the resources in the karst mountain of Chongqing are stated, including water, land, climate and biology. The limiting factors of the agricultural land use are found out based on the analysis of effect that is produced by environment resources. In the thesis, the limiting factors include four aspects: a. The distribution of water resource is uneven, the surface water resource is scarce, and the danger caused by drought is more serious, b. The soil resource is scarce and the land quality is low. c.The environment is mor fragile, d. The relationship between man and resources gets worsening. In this part, the karst region of Chongqing is divided into three parts according to landform that are karst plain zone, karst hill zone and karst mountain zone. And the conditions of the three zones on nature resources and land use are stated in the following part.Part four is the kernel one, in which the niche fitness degree theory is used to analyse the resource conditions of some agricultural areas. First, the niche fitness degree theory is stated, and the niche fitness degree of agricultural land use is also defined as the closeness between the optimal resource niche and the real resource niche, and then the mathematical model is established. Second, combined with other methods, the mathematical model is adopted to calculate the niche fitness degree of the eight districts. Third, the outcome is analysed.
