How the ideas of a state leader's affect the construction of national political security in modern political system? How to secure the dominant position of party in power and preserve national political security in a multi-nation country influenced by Confucianism? Enlightened by the above questions, this thesis choose to study Singapore, which has been run for a long time by People's Action Party(PAP), led by Lee Kuan Yew, to discuss the relationship between the sense of crisis of a state leader's and the practice of national political security.As the chief leader of PAP, Lee Kuan Yew plays a unique role in the country's political life, whose ideas and speech has vital importance on the political and economic arrangement of Singapore. During his long political career, based on his own judgment of situation of the day, Lee Kuan Yew considered that Singapore faced with a series of crises, including crisis of survival, national identity, political stability, elite and survival of PAP.Guided by his sense of crisis, Lee Kuan Yew led Singapore to carry out diplomatic activities to achieve power balance in the region, an environment in the interest of Singapore. As the same time, he tried to perfect domestic political system which aimed to keep the dominant position of PAP and prevent expand of opposition parties. He also asked PAP to improve itself to adjust to social development.Lee Kuan Yew's sense of crisis plays a vital role in the survival and development of Singapore, which constitute the bases of the measures taken by PAP to preserve political security, legalized to make them more affective. Singapore's experience can be an example of other countries.
