Studies On The-New-Middle-of-the-Road Of The German Social Democratic Party

The German Social Democratic Party is a party with more than one hundred years in Germany. In the process of its development it has served as the Reigning Party or the Participating Party for many times, which is an extremely important force on the political scene of Germany. Since 1990s,on the background of the Upheaval of the Soviet Union and East Europe, of the rapid development of the Economic Globalization and the new changes of the Economic Structure and the Social Structure of the Capitalism, the Global Socialist Movement has been brought low and there has appeared some crisis to the German Social Democratic Party. After the reflection of its idea and the adjustment of its policies, the German Social Democratic Party rose up once again and won the General Election of 1998.It became the Reigning Party after 16-year-opposition. After coming into power, it presented a theory called 'the –New -Middle-of-the-Road'and began a series of reform on the economic, political and social policies, which included: Adjusting the Economic Programme and establishing the Economic Frame dominated by the Market Economy; Reforming the Welfare System and constituting "the Nation of the Social Investment"which emphasizes the duty and the responsibility; founding the Civil Society and orienting the function of the Country, Society and Citizen again; Reforming the Party and promoting the modernization of the Party; performing "the Strategy of the Global Governing"and emphasizing Germany working as a great nation. So as to conform to the development and the new changes of the Capitalism, the German Social Democratic Party managed to construct the new mode of the Democratic Socialism and tried its best to live and develop within the confine of the Capitalism.
