Since Putin was elected to be the president of Russia in 2000, he has shown his brilliant talent in administering the country as well as obtained outstanding achievements in many aspects including politics, economy and diplomacy. That's why he successfully won the presidential election in March 2004, obtaining 72.2% of the votes. The peculiar social and historical background in Russia provided rich soil for Putin to be the leader of this nation. Putin is remarkable for his political wisdom and ability, capable of catching and going with the tide of history. He has gained the trust and support from the Russian people, and will lead Russia to a bright future after his reappointment as Russia's president. This thesis will analyse first the comprehensive background of Putin's reappointment from Russia's politics, economy, military forces, culture, technology and foreign policies, and then attempt to explore the chances as well as challenges of Russia's future development after Putin's reappointment as Russia's president.
