A Tentative Discussion On Marx's Research Methods

Marx's research method is not a single method, but the total of a series of methods of different levels. In the view of methodology, the fundamental basis of his research method is materialism dialectic; from the point of the research course, the whole course is that from concrete to abstract, then from abstract to concrete, for the purpose of convenient, the whole course can be divided into two sub-courses, namely " concrete-abstract " and " abstract —Concrete ".In the first sub-course, Marx employed such methods as: start from concrete facts, this is his starting point in research; choose typical forms, this is the method of choosing object in research; collect materials form all possible fields; scientific abstract, the method of obtaining concepts.In the second sub-course, Marx used the following methods: the method of the unity of history and logic, it is the grounds used for confirming the relationship between concepts; the combination of analysis and compound, this is the method for confirming the relationship between concepts; the method of critique, it is used for checking the correctness of concepts and of the relationship between concepts.Marx's methods in research not only aren't outdated, but also gain special significance from contemporary environments.
