Research On Youth's Voluntary Service

Since the youth's voluntary service business in China started at the beginning of1990s, because of the solid historical foundation and enormous social demand,within short ten years, it has obtained considerable development and exerted positiveand comprehensive influence in such a great deal of fields as the politics, economyand society. But as a new emerging thing, it still has met across some problems indevelopment that needs research and solve, so that its latent could be given full playto. For this reason, this thesis has done some beneficial discussions.From investigating the historical development course of Chinese and westernvoluntary service's spirit, the thesis defines the meaning of the voluntary spirit andvoluntary service, sums up the basic characteristics of voluntary service andsummarizes the developing history and current situation of western voluntary service.With analyzing the historical foundation that the youth's voluntary service rises innew era, it considers that the youth's voluntary service is the inheritance andinnovation of traditional voluntary service of China;with analyzing the erabackground that the youth's voluntary service rises in new period, it considers thatthe transition of the society, the system and the value caused by reform andopening-up have offered soil to the emergence and development of youth's voluntaryservice.The thesis gives an overall research on the current development situation ofyouth's voluntary service in China, analyzes new changes of in service subject, newexpansion in the service field and new changes in the service management, and hasmade objective and positive appraisal on the overall developing state. On the basis ofthis, it sums up the social influence of the youth's voluntary service and considersthat the youth's voluntary service is an important carrier of citizen's ethicalconstruction, a "fine tuning" means of promotion to social stability and harmony, auseful form of teenager's socialization education, and a "booster" of fosteringcitizens' society, and it should be a promising cause that the whole society pay closeattention to.The thesis considers that the main problems of the youth's voluntary servicemainly are social identity not high, management not well-arranged, organizingability not strong, service quality not high and legal construction lagging behind;andit carries on comprehensive and deep analysis to the original causes of each problem.To solve these problems, the thesis puts forward the way to perfect the youth'svoluntary service from five respects, mainly the reasonable development and use ofyoung volunteers resources, the ability construction of the volunteers associations,the expansion of the voluntary service field, the promotion of the youth's voluntaryservice forms and legislation for the youth's voluntary service, which offers a clearthought to promote healthy development of the youth's voluntary service.
