As a historical category, different people in different times may have quite different ideas about the concept and contents of state sovereignty, but traditional mainstream views on it all reason that state sovereignty is an absolute and sovereign power which can not be separated and demised. Recently, however, the rapidly developing globalization has been becoming a great challenge towards state sovereignty. Further more, some western scholars advocate theories, based on the challenge mentioned above, to depreciate and even to negate state sovereignty. Because of this, the main purpose of this thesis is to provide some constructive analyses and feasible policies for the developing countries, especially for China, to defend their state sovereignty and supreme interest better in order to make the principle of state sovereignty adapt for the globalization. The basic proposition of this paper is that the principle of state sovereignty, which is the foundation and premise of international relations under contemporary globalization, is and will still be the theory footstone and core of international public law; and thus the function of state to safeguard the state interests will be strengthened other than be weakened. So we must insist core-sovereignty, whilst regarding to non core sovereignty we should make an adaptability adjustment both in theory and in practice. There are four parts of the thesis in all.The introduction explains the meaning, purpose, and research methods of the thesis and the present study situation of state sovereignty as well. The first charter discusses the sovereignty theories and relationships between sovereignty states. In this part, the author analyses in theory that the concept of sovereignty falls in a history category and in practice that collaboration and conflict among countries exist together. The second charter, which is the highlight of this thesis, describes the challenges towards state sovereignty from economic globalization: on one hand, in the globalization drive, many factors impact the sovereignty in practice, on the other hand, some theoretical schools which debase and even negate sovereignty challenge it in theory. At length, the author makes a preliminary conclusion of the views on sovereignty on the ground of the author's own opinions. In the last charter, the thesis emphasizes the necessary of insisting the principle of state sovereignty under the globalization era, but in relation to developing countries the absolute and rigid ideas of sovereignty should be avoided. In the end, combined with the situation of our country, some reasonable countermeasures have been put forward.
