The United Nations Peace-Keeping Operation After The Cold War

It happened two world wars during the 20th century, the cruel wars brought remediless scar for the whole world. In order to keep the world's peace, building a new international order became the people's common wish after the world II. At that background, the UN was the historical choice, of course, the UN is devoting its strength for the world peace and development from 1945 to now.The UN charter, which passed in June26th,1945, stipulated the UN's purpose, that is to keep the world peace, promote the common development. Therefore, the UN Peace-keeping Operations is one of the effective ways to achieve its purpose. The UN's first peace-keeping operation happened in 1948, from then on, the UN Peace-keeping Operation is playing active impact on preventing conflicts, mollifying regional situations, rebuilding the world peace, etc. it has become the UN's symbol in playing important impact in the international affairs. In the almost 60years, the UN has carried 60 peace-keeping operations, and the UN carried 42 operations after the cold war, it is three times than the cold war's. It showed that the UN is playing important role in keeping the world peace after the cold war.In view of the change and the international backgrounds, this thesis expounds the UN Peace-keeping Operation's stages, new characters, new predicaments. Besides these, the thesis also assays that the UN how to face the predicaments and how to develop the peace-keeping operations in the future. About these problems, the thesis expounds its viewpoints and assays its probability.The thesis has five parts. The first part expounds the UN Peace-keeping Operation stages and styles after the cold war; the second part emphasizes the new characters; the third part discusses the new challenges, and gives conceptive confirmations for the new problems; the fourth part mainly analyzes the reasons of the new challenges; and about how to play the UN Peace-keeping Operation's impacts better and how to face these challenges, the last part gives my own advice.
