Residentialization And Modernization

Contemporary China is undergoing a huge society change. Urbanization is becoming a core part of economic & social development in China. It is clearly that many problems in China , such as economy problems, social problems and culture problems, all have close relationship with China's urbanization level and the dualistic structure between city and country. So if China wants to become a real modern country, it must make hundred millions of farmers leave rural aeres and become city residents, meanwhile, millions of city residents must be given modern quality, both of which are the inevitable requests for the development of China modernization.This essay analysed the residentialization and modernization problems in the process of the urbanization from urbanity. Urbanity means the Characteristics a city owns, that is the unique atmosphere, status and culture a city haves. There are tow levels of urbanity, ordinary urbanity and high urbanity. Residentialization can be seen as the process of which the famers get the ordinary urbanity, and modernization is the process of which the city residents get the high urbanity, both of which are consistent.Through finding out and expanding the meaning of urbanity, this essay studyed on the approaches to get the urbanity, which consummated the theorise of urbanity, and offered a theoretical guide for the realization of residentialization and modernization, then would promote the harmonious development of urbanization and modernization.
