Research On Case-based Planning Technology Of Air Offensive Campaign

Planning of Air Offensive Campaign (AOC) is the core and prerequisite of AOC. Nevertheless, the extreme unsteadiness, the complexity, and the sense of urgency make the planning more difficult. The generation of AOC plans at present is achieved by Rule-based Reasoning (RBR) assisted with manual or computer operation. However, the traditional way of planning is doom to be taken place by a new planning pattern of AOC by introducing an intelligent planning technology so as to comply with the inevitable demand and new trend of Information Warfare of PLA in the current times. A Case-based Reasoning (CBR) for the plan generation has been widely and effectively applied to many realms and become the emphasis of the research on the campaign planning based on CBR of U.S. military. CBR is used to obtain the domain knowledge and experience embedded in campaign plans by memorizing the existing cases, which is similar with the operating procedure mainly relied on the planning of AOC. Moreover, CBR eases the bottleneck of the formalization of domain theory and experience of AOC through memorization. Therefore, it is pretty rational and worthwhile for this thesis to introduce CBR and take it as the planning technology of AOC.Complying with the proposition, this thesis firstly reveals the challenges confronted by AOC planning and introduces the research background and conditions of CBR and the status quo of the study of campaign planning technology in view of CBR home and abroad. Secondly, it explains the flow of AOC planning, analyzes the essential elements of AOC planning, establishes a conceptual model on AOC planning and describes the model in a formalized manner. Then it discusses the CBR employed in AOC planning and contours the planning model of military campaign. Meanwhile, it raises a synthesized pattern comprising two planning techniques in view of CBR and RBR respectively and designs carefully the representation, the retrieval and the revision of the planning case of AOC under the guidance of CBR. At last, it constructs a planning system of AOC on the basis of CBR by uncovering the constructing assumption, the frame, the components and their functions and the work courses of the system.In a word, it is no doubt that to introduce CBR as the basis of AOC planning and construct a case-based planning system of AOC will broaden a new channel for AOC planning.
