Since 1890 when the Sherman Act was promulgated, the American antitrust laws have undergone a process of nearly one hundred years of rapid development. Although the American antitrust laws are more and more good ,people always criticize them. The reason of criticism lies in confusion and self-contradictory of American antitrust laws . The confusion and self-contradictory of American antitrust laws is the body of the indefinition of the American antitrust. The indefinition of the American antitrust make the American antitrust suffer much criticism, but the criticism also make the American antitrust laws have a progress. Understanding the indefinition are useful to re-comprehend the American antitrust laws , Understanding the indefinition also provide a new visual field for the legislation of Chinese anti-monopoly law. We have three parts to discuss. The first part is the first chapter of the thesis,it introduces simply the background of choosing the topic and the meaning of choosing the topic ; The second part discusses the indefinition of the American antitrust , from the body of the indefinition of the American antitrust ,the cause of the indefinition of the American antitrust and the way to reduce the indefinition of the American antitrust. these three contentses constitute one by one in order textual 2,3 and 4;The last part is the fifth chapter of the thesis, it discusses the inspiration of the indefinition of the American antitrust to the legislation of Chinese anti-monopoly law. Chinese anti-monopoly law also have the indefinition, so we need notice this specially in the process of the lawmaking.
