Research On Carrier's Liability In International Air Cargo Transportation

International air cargo transportation is an important part of international air transportation. The liability of the carrier is the core of international private air law. This paper is intended to do some research on the liability of carrier who engaged in international air cargo transportation. Since international air law mainly base on Warsaw convention and Montreal convention. So we will do some research on the regulations of these two conventions and some other related documents, which talk about the liability of the carrier.This paper is divided into six parts.In the first part we describe the development of international private air law. From this part you will know Warsaw convention, Montreal convention and some other related documents. In the second part we clarify the difference between domestic air transportation and international air transportation. Only we know this can we understand and use the international air law properly. In the third part we give a description of cargo and baggage in sense of international private air law. We also compare air express mail with postal service transportation. In the fourth part, we compare actual carrier with contracting carrier and show the different rights and liabilities between them. The fifth part is the core of this paper; in this part we study the liabilities of air transportation carrier, the limitation of carrier's liabilities. In the last part we study how to determine the liabilities of the carrier. There are two kinds of liabilities one is for harm the other is for delays. Each one has its own characteristic.
