Private companies in Shanghai now play a more and more important role in national economic and social development. The young with high academic qualifications in Shanghai's private companies have been surveyed through questionnaires and case study in this paper. After the data are analyzed, the young generation's quality of life has been described and explored based on sociological theory, and an index system on the quality of life has been constructed. Furthermore, the main factors influencing their quality of life and the problems have been discussed.The paper consists of seven parts. In the first part, the current studies in this field are reviewed and the research objectives, the significance and the research methods are introduced. The second part describes the quality of material life of the young with high academic qualifications in Shanghai's private companies on the basis of an analysis of the data and the cases. The subjective aspect of the young's satisfaction with their material life is analyzed, which indicates that the degree of subjective satisfaction is not high for their relatively low standard of living, i.e. income, house and life facilities. The third part analyzes the quality of leisure-time life of those young people from both the subjective and objective perspectives. The results show that they have little leisure time and entertainment, and their social life are also simple. It should be noted that online activities and virtual communications are their new recreations and communication patterns. Besides, the main factor influencing their content degree to their leisure-time life is the life tensity. In the fourth part, marriage of the young with high academic qualifications in Shanghai's private companies are described and analyzed based on a qualitative analysis, which shows that they are highly satisfied with their marriage, but there are still potential unstable elements in their marriage. The fifth part deals with both the subjective and objective aspects of the quality of working life of the young with high academic qualifications in Shanghai's private companies. The results reveal that they are not highly satisfied with their work, which are mainly affected by income, interpersonal relationship, the working rules and the work pressureIn the last two parts, the general quality of life of the young with high academic qualifications in Shanghai's private companies has been analyzed. The results indicate that their satisfaction with their life is not very high, mainly because of their income, work and marriage, among which the first two are dominant. At the same time, we construct an index system concerning their quality of life. And the shortcomings of the study have been discussed in the end.
