At present, China is in a period of rapid growth of the aging population. How to dealwith the economic and social impact due to the aging population and how to improve thequality of life of the eldrely in order to make them share the achievements of socialdevelopment, has become a hot issue in the community. The Sixth census data in2010shows that the elderly in rural areas accounted for the proportion of the elderlypopulation of the country has reached70%. The degree of aging of the rural populationwas significantly higher than that of urban. Poverty of the elderly is more serious. Therefore, the key to improve the old adults’ quality of life is in rural areas, withemphasis on farmers. The trend of population aging in Liaoning is serious. Its socialpension burden is higher than the level of national average. Therefore, the characteristicsof quality of life of the elderly in rural areas is manifested as low and unbalanced. At the moment, the whole community’s attention on the quality of life of the aged inrural areas is not enough. The theoretical guidance on how to improve the quality of lifeis not enough, especially lack of countermeasures. Therefore, I took the elderly in ruralareas as the research object, drawing on the experience of developed and developingcountries to improve the quality of life of them based on the theory, Refering to “thethree major indexes” of the international quality of life assessment,I build an indexsystem of the quality of lifeelderly and design the" five evaluation criteria " of quality oflife.then,I use " a core methods "(Analytic Hierarchy Process) to determine the indicatorsand Sub-Index’s right weights. In this paper, I made use of the200questionnaires surveydata to estimate the level of the elderly’s quality of life.including the eastern, western andcentral of Liaoning Province, and analyze the five main factors’ inflence on the quality oflife of the elderly in rural areas. Finally,I put forward “four paths” to improve the qualityof life of the elderly in rural areas "(to develop the rural economy,to improve the ruralsocial security system, to establish a diversified endowment service system and to build asocial interaction platform for the elderly in rural areas), and provide the policy basis forthe relevant departments to develop the quality of life of the elderly. The paper has five parts in all:Chapter Ⅰ: introduced the definition of quality of life and theaging. explained thetheoretical basis. Chapter Ⅱ: elaborated the construction method to build the index system of thequality of life for the elderly, screened the main factors which affect the quality of life ofrural aged and determined the contents of the index system.Chapter Ⅲ: determined the weight of the main factors, evaluate the whole situationof the quality of life of the aged in rural areas of Liaoning Province throughquestionnaires and AHP.Chapter IV: analyzed the main factors comprehensively which restricted thequality of life of the elderly in rural areas of the Liaoning Province through the results ofthe evaluation data.Chapter V: put forward and explained the policy recommendations to improve thequality of life of the elderly in rural areas of Liaoning Province.
