WTO offer a frame in which free trade was carried through by a sustainable way with the background that a lot of conflicts came out between a surprising speed of free trade development and some serious problems in global environment. Nevertheless, the point of WTO is on the free trade obviously, so many legal loopholes in environmental protection clauses especially the article XX of GATT were used to be excuses of different groups to achieve their personal goals, but not the object of environmental protection, especially the ignorance to the protection of animal in trade, a great deal of environmentalist working in all kinds of industries could not bear any more. There are four parts in my thesis, which expatiate on the problems of trade and environmental, and on how to avoid to abuse those articles of WTO as well as how to perfect them, especially a complementarity in "the interest of subsistence of animal", which means a lot to free trade even the subsistence of humankind. Finally there is a conclusion about it.There are two innovations in my thesis. The first is that the new legal concept of the interest of subsistence of animal was set forth. Moreover, the rationality and practical meaning of it were demonstrated logically. The second is that some suggestions about how China could do in order to a sustainable development after entering WTO. Some researching methods were taken, such as method of history, method of logical analysis, and method of case analysis.
