Along with economic globalization and the development of international trade, the economic growth of mankind society is being threatened by the natural environment, which the human beings rely on. The environment problem is widespread and valued by countries of the whole world. Environmental protection is on the upsurge today. Since the 70s in 20th centuries, a global environmental protection is rising up. A revolution of global environmental protection is unavoidable. To protect the ecosystem, to reduce the pollution and to economize natural resources is becoming more and more important. The more communication and interaction between countries in this economic field, the larger the change of international trade concepts, laws and regulations are.As the administration organization of the world trade, in the process of globalization and free trade, it is necessary for WTO to attach importance to environmental protection and sustainable development. As the establishment of WTO, "greenness" is its oath, and WTO aims to keep the balance between the world trade and the global environmental protection. Its final goal is to Optimize the allocation of resources and to find methods of environmental protection in terms of sustainable development. In many aspects, the international trade rules are confronted with the challenge from either domestic or overseas environmental protection rules and regulations. The barrier brought by the environmental protection is called Environment Barrier or Green Barrier, which prevent the market access of the overseas products into the domestic market. As the decline of Custom duties and the abolishment of the traditional non-tariff barrier, some developed countries began to extend the new trade protectionism "green barriers". Thus in the field of international trade, the trade friction related to environment problems got increased. It does have an impact on the external trade of developing countries. This thesis paper focuses on the theories and practice of international trade and environmental protection, and further investigates the methods and means for developing countries to break the "green barriers" of developed countries, and aims to improve the international competitive capacity of China, and continue the sustainable development of our nation's export tariff.
