Study On The Citizen Participation In China's Local Governance In The Information Society

With the rapid development of computer technology, communication technologyand internet technology, human society has entered the Information Society. The comingof the Information Society has great impact on the democratic politics and also bringsnew opportunities and challenges for the citizen participation in China's local governance.On the opportunities, firstly, the Information Society has provided the citizenparticipation in local governance with varied and interactive channels. Secondly, it haspushed the citizen participation forward in width and depth. Thirdly, it also hasstrengthened the sense of citizen participation. On the challenges, the Information Societyhas brought problems of false news, disorder and imparity for the citizen participation.Facing the opportunities and challenges, it is quite important to advance China's citizenparticipation in local governance by the use of advantages of information technology.Therefore, we should convert the conception of local officials and strengthen the sense ofcitizen participation. Secondly, we should promote open administration in localgovernments and the interactive ways. Thirdly, we should keep the citizen participation inorder by laws, ethics and techniques. Finally, we should accelerate the process ofinformatization and leap the Digital Gap. By the measures above, the citizen participationin China's local governance will be more successful in the future.
