China and Russia, the two neighbored socialism countries, have greatly changed both in political ideology and economy since 1990s. Recently, serious population crisis has taken place in Russia, especially in its far east area, since its collapse, which is highly regarded by Russia, Northeast Asia and the whole world. Quantities of Chinese people have flooded into Russia and this is the new immigration tide. Chinese immigrants in Russia far east area mainly gather along the seaside border and its far east big cities. The immigrants consist of labor immigrants, permanent immigrants (the Chinese overseas students), illegal immigrants that entering Russia by tourist visa or other illegal means and other kinds of temporary immigrants. Most immigrants take up jobs as construction, agriculture, forestry and commerce, etc.. Rumors has begun to spread with the growing number of Chinese immigrants in far east of Russia, among which mainly are arguments like"China is a threat","Yellow Calamity","China is expanding"and"China is occupying Russia secretly". The problem of Chinese immigrants and the argument that China is a threat have reasons out of history and reality. Chinese immigrants in Russia far east area has long-lasting and profound influence on Sino-Russia relationship. Leaders of both states have reached some agreements after detailed discussion though difference exists between them. Cool, objective and pragmatic approach should be applied in dealing with Chinese immigrants in Russia far east.By virtue of introducing the theory of push-and pull model by E.G. Ravenstein, the famous sociologist in 19th century in America, author of this paper tries to explore the reason of Chinese's immigrating into far east area in Russia, and investigate the factors of spreading of the rumor that"Chinese is a threat". To accomplish the above research, author of this paper divides the immigrating process after 1990s into four stages, i.e. the starting stage, the rapid growing stage, the controlling stage and the stable stage through analysis on the process, scale, structure and alteration in which Chinese immigrates into far east of Russia. Meanwhile the author analyses Chinese immigrants into far east area of Russia from the perspective of immigrant trend in Northeast Asia under the circumstance of global economic integration and regional economic integration.
