Dedication is an intimate vocabulary which is widely used in recruitment and selection. It has been demonstrated that dedication is indispensable diathesis in employment by many researches. And the leaders of Military Commission of the Communist Party Central Committee always emphasize the importance, either. However apprehension to dedication is merely sensibility in internal psychology domain. The current situation brings about 3 aspects problems:â‘ There is a contradiction between widespread application and the conception absence in psychology.â‘¡Owing to ambiguity of dedicative concept, it will be difficult to compare different researches and will bring about big error in a research on account of disparity in subjective evaluation criterion. (3) As its deficiency of operability, dedication is retained in oral and written. After researching dedication in army, this study hopes to resolve 2 problems:â‘ What is the structure of dedication in army? Is it single dimension or multi-dimensions? What characteristics does it include?â‘¡Are there any differences in degree of importance between characteristics and dimensions in the structure of dedication? How many is weight coefficient in different layers of structure? The study included 5 parts, used two research paradigms, qualitative research and quantitative research, and multiple methods. In the part of extracting dimension and characteristics of the dedication in army, dedication openness inventory questionnaires, behavior event interviews of the military officers and modern militarist biographies had been taken coding analysis of qualitative research. Also, experts in specific areas had checked the results. In the end, the primary dimensions and primitive characteristic of the dedication of military personnel had formed. In the part of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis for dedication in army, we took factor analysis method of the quantitative research to check the previous theoretic structure of the dedication in army. In the part of making weight coefficient of dedication structure, we took analytic hierarchy process technique.Main conclusions:1. The dedication of military dedication was a 6 dimensions 2-order factor model. 21 characteristics belonged to 6 dimensions and characteristic were concluded in the higher-order factor.2. In the dedication model representing the army sample, different dimension or characteristic had a different contribution rate. The details was arranged as follow (the weight coefficient in the parentheses) .(1) In the first hierarchy of dedication model: enterprising (0.21), perfection (0.19), tenacity (0.18), initiative (0.17), sacrifice (0.13), occupational positive feelings (0.12);(2) In enterprising dimension of the second hierarchy: aim (0.36), honor (0.34), improvement (0.30);(3) In initiative dimension of the second hierarchy: learn from experience (0.27), research consciousness (0.22), vigilance (0.19), information selection (0.16), learn consciousness (0.15);(4) In precise dimension of the second hierarchy: working standard (0.45), process control (0.33), result request (0.22);(5) In tenacity dimension of the second hierarchy: persevering (0.56), tolerance setbacks (0.44);(6) In sacrifice dimension of the second hierarchy: material interest sacrifice (0.22), body interest sacrifice (0.22), affection sacrifice (0.20), society power and fame sacrifice (0.19), recreation sacrifice (0.18);(7) In work contentment dimension of the second hierarchy: occupational proud (0.37), work satiation (0.35), work interest (0.28).Attention problem:In the research of making the weight coefficients of the dedication model of the military personnel, we had done the interviews after their evaluating the items. It was found that some officers evaluated the dedication items aiming directly at needs in peacetime, others aiming at needs in war , others did not differentiate between them. Some believed that the importance of dedication were different in peace and war time, however others believed the disparity was not big. Accordingly the differential problem between peace and war would be further researched.
