The Feminist Explianation Of Democracy In Western Society

We cannot ignore the influence of Feminism no matter it is regarded as a law philosophy or women's political practice to seek human rights. With its unique characteristics of study target,ideology and methodology,values and conception,political ideas and other aspects, feminism started from western countries and spread to the world in 20th century, taking"equality and differences"as the core domain of its theories. Based on the ideas of western freedom and equality, it asks for the ending of women's subordinating status and the equality of men and women, which is a kind of politics aiming at changing the power relationship of the two genders in the society.To view and observe the world from the angle of feminism and social gender not only has brought reform in the science filed, but also impacted a lot on the individual's living circumstances in the society.Democracy in the western society has continued to expand all over the world during these two centuries. As human's rational choice in the long-term historical development practice, its development represents the civilization and improvement of human's society. While, when comes to women, it doesn't mean the political power and equality naturally. The women can't be truly equally treated as they wish in all kinds of political democratic behaviors, on the contrary, they are in the danger of being edged.This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part mainly induces and analyzes basic questions including feminism's theory and abstract of its core domain, to summarize the schools of feminism and theory of knowledge and methods, to analyze the basic characteristics of feminism's theory. The second part is the key part of this thesis. It will give a different explanation to democracy in the western society from the feminism's perspective based on the summarization of feminism. Firstly, how the core value of western democracy as equality,freedom and justice affect the feminism and contribution made by feminism to western democracy; Secondly, to redefine the inner meaning of equality and discuss that the women's right ability is the base of women's freedom and the women's select ability is to give them ultimate care; thirdly, to question and criticize the separation of public and private sphere from the feminism point of view; fourthly, to comment the interpretation from citizenship to western democracy and from feminism to citizenship. The conclusion part makes proposition to democracy in the western society. Base on the deep concern on women's human right and women's rights, it puts forward to surpass democracy from"equality and difference"concerned by feminism's theory and reconstruct the feminist faith of democracy so as to promote the development and advancement of democracy in the western society.
